Pick up Thing A from Place B, then take it over to Place C. But it gets surprisingly complicated if Place B is clear on the other side of the City of Tomorrow, hundreds of miles away;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.webomator.com\/grafx3\/blog\/Retropolis_Courier_Service02.jpg\" alt=\"Grace Keaton, Courier\" width=\"245\" height=\"352\" class=\"img_flush_right\"> and if Thing A turns out to be a Cardiophilic Moisture Eliminator, well. Boy Howdy! You&#8217;ve got all <em>kinds<\/em> of trouble.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s why we leave package deliveries to the valiant, well-trained delivery persons of the Retropolis Courier Service.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ve all admired their splendid livery, and we&#8217;ve envied them their compact, high-flying scooters; we&#8217;ve gratefully handed them our (usually non-Cardiophilic) packages, and we&#8217;ve taken their speedy deliveries from faraway parts.<\/p>\n<p>Very few of us have sent anything into &#8211; or out of &#8211; the Experimental Research District. But if we have, or if we do, it will be a specially trained Route X Courier who makes sure that package arrives at its destination with a low, low incidence of unpleasant side effects. <em>Special rates apply.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>So here we see Grace Keaton, a Route X Courier herself. She seem to be the poster person for the Courier Service.<\/p>\n<p>And of course this <em>is<\/em> a <a href=\"http:\/\/shop.webomator.com\/retropolis\/retropolis_z\/retropolis_travel_posters.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">poster<\/a>, over at Retropolis; it&#8217;s also <a href=\"http:\/\/shop.webomator.com\/retropolis\/retropolis_archival_prints.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">an archival print<\/a>, and<a href=\"http:\/\/shop.webomator.com\/retropolis\/retropolis_z\/retropolis_travel_coffee_mugs.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> a coffee mug<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.webomator.com\/grafx3\/blog\/Retropolis_Courier_Service03.jpg\" alt=\"Closeup of the Retropolis Courier Service\" width=\"501\" height=\"176\" class=\"img_wide_between\">\n<p>Grace is a character I invented for a sequel to <em>Slaves of the Switchboard of Doom<\/em>. She&#8217;s now had a cameo in <em><a href=\"http:\/\/thrilling-tales.webomator.com\/floating_laboratory\/wilcox_001\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Professor Wilcox and the Floating Laboratory<\/a><\/em> and she&#8217;ll probably return in the sixth Retropolis Registry of Patents story.
