{"id":3405,"date":"2014-03-16T10:43:14","date_gmt":"2014-03-16T14:43:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.webomator.com\/?p=3405"},"modified":"2014-03-16T10:43:14","modified_gmt":"2014-03-16T14:43:14","slug":"vintage-british-pulp-covers-by-ron-turner-and-others","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.webomator.com\/wordpress\/2014\/03\/16\/vintage-british-pulp-covers-by-ron-turner-and-others\/","title":{"rendered":"Vintage British pulp covers by Ron Turner (and others)"},"content":{"rendered":"  <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.webomator.com\/grafx3\/blog\/ron_turner_wonders_of_the_spaceways.jpg\" alt=\"Ron Turner cover for Wonders of the Spaceways\" width=\"501\" height=\"501\" border=\"0\" class=\"img_wide_open\">\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.darkroastedblend.com\/2014\/03\/exceptional-british-scifi-artwork-from.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Dark Roasted Blend<\/em><\/a> offers up a selection of British pulp science fiction cover illustrations, many by illustrator Ron Turner; the post links on to this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/gems_from_the_collection\/with\/421519595\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">fantastic Flickr stream<\/a> where quite a few of the images were found.<\/p>\n<p>Turner turns out to be an interesting case of a British artist who was inspired by American pulp magazine covers and then went on to do his own art for magazines, paperbacks, and comics &#8211; including a long run on the comic <em>The Daleks <\/em>and a less successful and much shorter run for <em>2000AD<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve previously featured his <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.webomator.com\/2010\/01\/21\/random-pulp-sci-fi-cover-the-magnetic-brain\/\">Magnetic Brain<\/a><\/em> cover here.
