{"id":149,"date":"2008-06-24T12:52:36","date_gmt":"2008-06-24T16:52:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.webomator.com\/?p=149"},"modified":"2008-06-24T12:52:36","modified_gmt":"2008-06-24T16:52:36","slug":"in-progress-an-airship-of-the-retro-future","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.webomator.com\/wordpress\/2008\/06\/24\/in-progress-an-airship-of-the-retro-future\/","title":{"rendered":"In Progress &#8211; an airship of the retro future"},"content":{"rendered":"<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.webomator.com\/grafx2\/blog\/Airship_test2.jpg\" alt=\"Airship of the Retro Future\" width=\"501\" height=\"282\" \/>\n<p style=\"margin-top:12px;\">\nHere&#8217;s a test rendering of the 3D model I&#8217;ve been working on &#8211; it&#8217;s the Airship <em>Vindoclavian<\/em>, a lighter than air dirigible that incorporates some steering propellers from an old <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.printfection.com\/retro-future\/Modern-Mechanix-and-Inventions-Zeppelin\/_s_60010\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Modern Mechanix &amp; Inventions<\/a><\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.printfection.com\/retro-future\/Modern-Mechanix-and-Inventions-Zeppelin\/_s_60010\"> cover<\/a> and an exoskeletal frame that&#8217;s unlike any that were ever used in zeppelins (German zeppelins used internal, four-spoked frames, while the US Navy&#8217;s dirigibles used a similar, but three-spoked frame that the German engineers disapproved of*).\n<\/p><p>\nThat frame and another aspect of the design are really intended just to make the nature of the ship more apparent&#8230; so I have to figure out what crazy notions led to those changes.
